A New Norm, Corona Norm.

When a cold was just a cold.

Isn't it funny or rather sad, that the minute we start to have a scratchy throat, blocked nose, sneeze attack or odd cough we immediately think we are stricken with corona. Nobody dares to talk about having a plain old cold.

Bob started to have a scratchy throat over the weekend and the first thing he did was a corona test. Thankfully we have oodles of the at-home-test-kits and thus he checked. No, not corona. A plain old cold it is.

Bob is doing the right thing and staying home in order to get well and also not to inflict the cold bug on his work mates. That is how one should do it and if all his work mates had adhered to this, Bob wouldn't have caught this bug!

So, now I have a husband afflicted with man-flu at home. His words not mine. I try to be a good nurse and make him many cups of tea, nutritious soups and favourite dinners. Nothing worse than suffering from a cold. I don't like it either.

Corona has made itself comfortable in our midst, minds and psyche to such an extent that thinking of a life without it seems strange. Even when watching movies I catch myself thinking about safety when actors embrace or talk to each other without the required meter and a half distance. Weird!

Austria is at the moment having a torrid time with new corona cases daily yet, all corona sanctions are being lifted. Perhaps the powers that be know more than we do, or they haven't got the will to keep us, the populace, masked and alert. I do hope the coming winter season won't be a repeat from the last one as it would be nice to have a normal old fashioned Christmas season ahead....
