Some Superstitions On Friday The Thirteenth.

Could it be true?

  • Celebrating or even congratulating someone on a birthday before the day arrives brings bad luck, at least in some parts of the world.
  • If you receive a sharp knife or a pair of scissors as a present, give the person a coin in return. Otherwise it could mean severing a relationship.
  • Avoid sleeping with your head facing north. According to a Japanese superstition it is bad luck to sleep with your head facing this way as that is the direction one is laid to rest.
  • In France it is considered bad luck if you step into doggy poop with your right foot although it is considered lucky if it is with your left foot.
  • In Portugal it is considered bad luck to walk backwards, as they believe that you are then showing the devil which way you are going.
  • In Spain it is thought of as bad luck to enter a room with your left foot. It is always better to enter or leave with your right foot.
  • Don't open your umbrella before you head outside or else bad luck will rain on you.
  • Women in ancient Britain kept acorns in their pockets to ensure a youthful complexion!
  • It is considered bad luck to leave a house through a different door than the one used to come into it.
  • Rosemary planted by the doorstep will keep witches away.
  • Knock three times on wood after mentioning good fortune so evil spirits won't ruin it.
