A Leisurely Morning.

A fabulous walk in the Deutsch Schützen vineyards.

The road taken does make a difference. Usually as I walk outside our front door I decide which direction to go. Left takes me to somewhere in the Eisenberg vineyards, center takes me along the former border to Hungary and right lets me traverse the Deutsch Schützen vineyards. Today's choice.

A walk like any other day except for the numerous encounters I had the fortune to have. At first two dogs recognized me and were dashing towards me with enough cheer to last a week. Is there anything nicer than to be greeted exuberantly by a dog? Just love it. A ten minute chat with their owner ensued and I must say, everyone is in a better mood after a day of rest and more ahead.

A bit further along another dog came my way, albeit at first a bit hesitatingly. Dogs aren't ubiquitous on my walks therefore I do recognize each one by their shape, manner and gait. Not to mention their owners. This time it was a bit more formal, and quick seasonal greetings were exchanged. But, at least the dog had given me a quick grin and cuddle before heading off to scent his way about.

My last encounter was a much longer one. I think we stood there for at least fifteen minutes exchanging greetings, news and village gossip. All the while her little dog was bravely biding his time to do a round of investigative sniffing.

Taking the time for a bit of a chat is priceless. It gives structure to perhaps an otherwise lonely day, it lends a token of belonging and it strengthens those important threads that make up the tapestry of our lives. It doesn't take much to stop to chat. Often a smile and ' hello ' are enough to banish a day of loneliness and despair. Can't wait to see who I will meet tomorrow...
