An early start to the new year.
Life with a dog has so many special moments attached but also a duty or two. Like taking him for a walk early morning. No if, when or buts. When the need strikes there is no time to turn over in bed for another round of sleep.
Last night I made sure to have both of our indoor pets near me because the insanity of fireworks didn't stop here. On the contrary, it felt louder than ever and nearer to us too, Suffice to say I didn't sleep more than a wink, what with Mausi trying to cuddle as close to me as possible all night long. The boy varied between loud snores and frantic climbing in and out of his basket.
So, both of us stepped outside at half past six to do our ablution round. Gosh it was quiet today. Most shutters were closed testifying to the fact that people had stayed up way into this new year. Where and how do they manage it? Both Bob and I were in bed before nine!!!
Thankfully I didn't encounter any stray dog that had been so scared as to run away during the night but I did notice a lot of spent fireworks and bits and pieces of little rockets littering lawns and street. So much for the banning of fireworks due to corona. Never mind that everyone should have been home by ten o'clock!
The weather has shown itself from its best side and the temperature was in the teens along with sunshine and a blue sky. Perfect to do a turn about the vineyard. Working alongside Bob, pulling out old and shoddy wires. It didn't take us very long, about an hour and a half, but while we were busy we noticed quite a few locals congregating at a well known watering hole, more likely than not carrying on where they left off earlier this morning. Ah well, each to their own.
So, the new year has been christened and so far portends only good things. Life, isn't it marvelous?
