EO shopping center in overdrive.
Shew, what a long day it has been. Today was the draw of this Mercedes car and one had to be present to receive it...should one be drawn. Cunningly they put the draw time at four in the afternoon which ensured that from lunchtime onward, the center was hectic and crushingly busy. Bob and I thought ahead and arrived at noon, finding one of the last parking spaces in the center. Many others had to park up on hills, on lawns and further afield. It seemed as if all of Oberwart and beyond was there.
Oh, just to let you know, neither of us won a thing apart from experience and a good adventure out. Look, if one isn't there, one can't win. Even though Bob played a nonchalant card before leaving today, he dressed up nicely and got a haircut for the off chance that he'd be pictured on the front page of our newspapers. He and the new car...actually both of us tried our best to attract fate by looking spiffy for possible photographs, but alas, someone else needed the car more. Never mind.
We did manage to score a bargain though while we were waiting for the draw to start. Bob needed a pair of work shoes and by pure chance he espied a pair of expensive running shoes having been marked down from one hundred euros to twenty. Turns out that someone had taken two different sizes of the same brand and thus this pair was an odd one, with a half size being the difference. Luckily they fitted Bob but, I think at such a bargain he would have tucked his toes in, but wearing a thin and a thick sock will do the trick and voila, a new pair of comfortable work shoes for next to nothing...it was a good day indeed.
