Some Insights Of Samuel Johnson ( 1709-1784 )

Amazing to think that he penned his thoughts almost three centuries ago.

"Claret is the liquor for boys; port for men; but he who aspires to be a hero...must drink brandy. "
"Almost every man wastes part of his life attempting to display qualities which he doesn't possess. "
" To be happy at home is the ultimate result of ambition, the end to which every enterprise and labour tends, and of which every desire prompts the execution. "
" He was dull in a new way, and that made many people think him great. "
" All envy would be extinguished, if it were universally known that there are none to be envied. "
" Whatever you have, spend less. "
" We are all prompted by the same motives, all deceived by the same fallacies, all animated by hope, obstructed by danger, entangled by desire, and seduced by pleasure. "
" We are inclined to believe those whom we do not know because they have never deceived us. "
" One of the disadvantages of wine is that it makes man mistake words for thoughts. "
