The Reds Are In The Cellar.

 Grape harvest finished.

We whizzed through the vineyard this morning harvesting rows of red grapes at what seemed like the speed of light. Gosh, this year we put foot or rather the grapes were so fabulous that all we needed to do was snip them off the vines. Easy peasy! Of course the vines and grapes have been expertly tended and pruned by mum all year round.

Bob took a day's leave to help us with the harvest and I think that might be another major reason we finished so quickly. He had his back-pack ( fits about four buckets worth of grapes ) and loaded it with the various buckets of harvested grapes from us. Saved us a long, long walk. Absolutely brilliant and also having him be there. Nice.

Lately we've started a tradition, well I have, that after harvest I fetch Maxi and take him to my parent's home in order for him to hang out with us while we have vittles and wine. Gosh, he loves it. Today was the third time and it was rather funny how we got there. Bob was driving, Maxi was in the passenger seat and I in the back. Yes, Bob was driving us but as nobody could see the dog on the seat, it looked as though Bob had banished me to the back!!!

These outings are wonderful for Maxi's soul as he gets lavished with treats and love. It doesn't hurt that he looks so darn cute because once the ladies see him, they can't help but cuddle him and feed him treats. I might have to  take him for another walk this evening because he really got given a lot of edible treats. Little charmer...

The weekend is halfway through, the harvest is done, Bob's already home and the kids ( all our animals ) are fed. Life, isn't it grande?
