Monday Mornings: Boomtown Rats or Otherwise?

A good start to your week?

Monday morning is a great time to reflect on the wonderful weekend had. The wine you drank, the people you met and the food you cooked. Yes I know that it means back to the grindstone for so many of us. But then again, imagine not having a clear distinction between work and weekend. Would you still look forward to the Fridays of each week?

The strange thing is that as soon as Monday is here, you might as well start preparing for your weekend because for some odd reason time just flits through our fingers. Be honest, the days between Monday and Friday are often a bit of a blur. A blur caused by the speediness of their appearance.

At times I need to stop and really thing about what day it is. They do morph into each other and often the only anchor is a TV program. You know, kind of like Dallas used to be reserved for Tuesday evenings. Growing up, we knew not to phone or visit anyone on a Tuesday. J.R and co had precedence. Frankly, I don't think anyone would have answered the phone. We were all so hooked on Dallas.

A few unimaginative kitchen genies ( that includes me ) cook mostly according to the day. Monday might be Rice & Vegetables. Tuesdays somehow feels like it needs to be ended off with pasta & mince. Fast forward to Friday and 99% of the time a pizza is eaten. Eating a pizza on say a Thursday feels kind of odd for me. Although, I won't say no to one because Schatzi is mostly the pizza maker in our house.

Of course the weekend has eating rituals as well. Before Bob's diabetes, weekends meant eating junk and as when you felt like it. Now that is out the window ( and thankfully so because it aided and abetted that darn diabetes ) and we eat proper meals. For Bob and I, Sunday breakfast almost always consists on 2 fried eggs on toast / bread / bread roll. Oh yes, the two of us are creatures of habit. Extremely though.

So, wouldn't you know it, today is Monday. A glorious Monday morning with the birds chirping and the sun already on the scene without a cloud in the sky. Yes, for some of you it means commuting, sitting for hours in your car, being at a place of work you aren't happy in and doing work you don't like doing. But just remember that before you know it, Friday is here and your weekend starts again. Have a great Monday.
