And The Numbers Keep On Climbing.

Chickens coming home to roost?

All summer long and part of autumn most people behaved as if there were no corona about. Fiction to some and gospel to others. In a way we all went eyes open into our current situation. At the end of the day it is up to us as individuals to do the right thing. We all knew and know what we should and should not do in regards to corona.

Well, now the numbers have almost reached twelve thousand daily new cases. Gosh, that is a lot considering that we are a small country. Our village has also been sought out by the virus and rather a lot of folks are quarantined away.

Only yesterday they issued a warning for those that attended either Halloween parties, soccer matches or wine tastings in and about our area, to please be on the look out for possible corona symptoms as there is an outbreak at the moment.

Our hospitals are getting filled with corona patients, mostly those that are not vaccinated. Already a few hospitals in the worst regions have started to triage. Not enough beds and not enough staff. The medical staff is exhausted and who can blame them. Knowing that a tidal wave of new cases is heading their way regardless of whether everyone gets vaccinated or not, must be demoralizing to say the least.

I think that a lot of those not wanting to be vaccinated haven't yet grasped the fact that by doing so, the hospitals are filling up and should they have an accident, heart attack, stroke or other serious illness, chances are that there won't be a place for them. Or anyone else ( vaccinated ) for that matter. Only this morning they were discussing the unfairness of cancer operations being delayed because of the stations being quite full with corona patients.

Perhaps all the attention that is being given to the new corona reality will make some people change their mind and get their  first dose of the vaccine. One can only hope that this is as bad as it gets, but somehow I doubt it...
