Veganuary.

This January many are giving veganism a try.

It started in 2014 and so far over a million people have participated. Isn't that great? For a whole month all these folks ate mostly vegan and hopefully a few of them carried on after the month was up. Yes, it was a way to introduce people to veganism ( for environmental, health or kindness to animals ) and show them that it is way more than they imagined. Mostly carrots and lettuce leaves no doubt!!

A month isn't a long time in the scheme of things and even now, the first week of it is already over. By now many are beginning to realize that eating in this way actually  makes them feel good, sheds a pound or two and introduces them to formerly untried foods.

Since it has become apparent that veganism is unstoppable, many food manufactures have introduced different vegan options and thus the shelves of supermarkets everywhere are bulging under the weight of ready made vegan options.

Those options serve a purpose....the commonly held idea that vegans eat only lettuce, carrots and beans gets replaced by the sheer unlimited possibilities of cooking vegan. Gosh, there are so many delicious sounding options out there that often just reading the description makes my mouth water.

Bol Fire Roasted Cauliflower Tikka Masala Dinner Box-----Tesco

     Wicked Kitchen Rockin' Ravioli

    Gosh! Sweetcorn and Quinoa Bites

Fry's Meat Free Pepper Steak Style Pie

In a way I am jolly glad that these delicious sounding options are only available in Britain ( at least I haven't seen them here in Austria ) so far but I can very well foresee a future where the mainstay of supermarkets all over the world are these various vegan options and by then, staples.

Here's hoping to another few hundred thousand vegan enthusiasts joining the team...
