The Weekend, What A Welcome Friend.

A change in pace.

There is just a special feeling in the air come Friday morning. Everyone is getting ready for a couple of days of nothing and everything. Days to recharge, days to reconnect and days to forget.

Fridays feel like dress rehearsals for holidays not yet taken. Fridays are often lived to the fullest and not an ounce of it is left for sleep. A sort of dare to the ordinariness of weekdays. Eat, drink and let live...

Our village is doubly into weekends. A lot of locals commute weekly to and from Vienna and come Friday afternoon, they head home for two days of catching up. Families are together again and food is often at the center of it. Saturday and Sunday are spent creating local culinary treats for the men. Often a nice pot roast with all the trimmings.

The shop is busy as can be on Friday mornings and as they say, the early bird catches the worm or in this case the best cut of meat, the freshest vegetables and of course the most important bit, the freshest village news.

Weekends fit us like a well worn glove and so it should be. We all need that time to recharge and reset our bodies in order to be fit for another bout of weekday living. Of course the best bit about a weekend is spending two long days with our better halves....
