Will The New Hercule Poirot Change Our Literary Landscape?

The start of a new Agatha Christie genre?

Those of us who are Agatha Christie Fans, are getting rather excited at the prospect of a new novel. Haven't we all read and re-read her novels numerous times and even watched the film versions again and again?

There is a lot of pressure on the young author Sophie Hannah to please all of us. Can you imagine, if she succeeds, there will be lots more in the offing. As Miss Marple is my favourite, I hope that she too will be resurrected.

As you start reading any of Agatha Christie's novels you will notice, that they have the ability to transport you to an era where the world still seemed alright. Don't get me wrong, there was always a murder or two but otherwise it gave a nice depiction of a genteel lifestyle where taking the time for a cup of tea or rather the ritual of English Tea-Time was essential.

It would do all of us good, if we slowed down enough to enjoy a cup of tea or as in Miss Marple 's case, knit a sock or two.

If this new addition to Agatha Christie is successful then it might change the literary landscape. Maybe this is the start of a public that is hungry for a gentler and less violent lifestyle in literature and hopefully in real life. Just imagine...
