A Photographic Meander Down A Memory Lane Of Life Lived.

Don't we all have the odd album lying about?

Often it is exactly those Kodak moments that remind us of places, family and friends that have accompanied us throughout life. As cheesy as those incessant TV ads were, in essence they were spot on.

A Kodak moment is special, happens once in a lifetime and therefore unique.

Memory lane is often inundated with trap doors down which some moments of our past drop and sadly disappear. Yes, away from view they seem forgotten. Keeping photos is a safe guard against those pesky memory trap doors.

I had the privilege to go down a lifetime of memories with a nice lady yesterday. It was a privilege, because being invited to accompany her along a collection of special moments was an honour.

Digital, as everything seems to be nowadays, doesn't do justice to a real, hold in your hand, photo. Even having them encased in a plastic cover, makes perusing them fun. If you have ever wondered why anyone flipping through the pouches of a photo album twists and turns before it, the answer is very simple....they are trying to outfox the glare of the plastic cover!

In the space of about half an hour, I had traveled back in time to the early 40's and you know, seeing a black and white photo ( and they still have a white edge and thick paper ) was like stumbling across a treasure. A black and white photo has character and never mind the people immortalized on it.

Following someone's life through the eyes of a camera is interesting, special and awe inspiring. A happy wedding snap, christenings, grandchildren and holidays taken.

Seeing a few tears roll down a wrinkled cheek is not unusual but those tears are outweighed by youthful giggles, mature laughter and that faraway look that evolves as a finger moves over the photo in an attempt to recall those happier times. A look that masks the fact that the mind is back to when and where the photo was taken.

It's those Kodak moments that keep alive the moments of joy in someone's life and moving a finger over a computer screen is not the same as holding a little square of happiness in the palm of your hand...

Sadly, when our generation gets older and are lucky enough that somebody wants to flick through an onscreen collection of our life, it will be inundated with meals eaten and Selfies taken...
