Burgenland's Weather forecasts: Spot on !

Do they have a crystal ball ?

This is a first for me. A weather forecast that is accurate, to the point and timely. Here in Burgenland, we don't seem to need those usual comments of " yeah, right so much for the forecast "

Where and how do they do it ? Severe storms coming up...they predict it to the minute and are spot on. Our village had a severe hail storm last month, and they were scarily accurate in their prediction. Usually when you watch a Weather Forecast on T.V., you see a pretty woman or man doing their hand sweeps over the map with the odd words of alarm thrown in.

Bob and I did a whole day of D.I.Y. yesterday and had the radio tuned to Radio Burgenland. They deserve a medal for playing such a good mix of music because the day seemed to have wings attached. Not a mean feat, if you are doing physical work.

They played a wonderful mix suited more to my tastes. I think that Bob would have preferred
the " The Killers " to " Leo Sayer / Barry Manilow /The Mama's & The Papas ". ( I have seen him sing along to Abba though ! ). Oh, of course the odd few songs were a bit dodgy, but nonetheless, it was fantastic. If you don't mind the Austrian language, try it out on the Internet.

Anyway, in the afternoon's weather forecast, they told the obvious ( temperatures in their 30's ) but said that at 4 am rain showers would bless the area. Oh yes, I was up this early and would you believe it, it rained for 10 minutes !

Thankfully, today there is no need to water the garden. Nowadays, it gets a bit labour intensive as Bob and I use the well in the garden. At least 10 drops of the bucket down the well are needed...
