You can be rest assured that when you see or rather hear a car drive past with Rich Astley's ditty on full volume aided by the background singer of one, that said background singer was Alive & Kicking and young during the 80's. Who else would have the gumption to belt out a former disco tune sans disguise in 2019?

Driving should be forbidden when it is so hot outside but what can one do. I was just on the way to one of the cellars when the opening bars of Rick Astley's " Never gonna give you up. " started. For a child of the 80's ( we grew up the old fashioned way and listened to the radio or watched Pop Shop on TV ) all it takes are the first two notes and the song is recognized along with that wonderful feeling of nostalgia.

Before I knew what I was doing, I wound ( pressed the buttons actually ) down both windows while at the same time cranking up the volume of our radio. Bliss. How amazing that I still knew the words to that song? Bob of course was more of a trendy chap back then and was growing into his alternative music phase but I bet that he could sing along verbatim too.

I suppose we all have our decade of ditties that we feel an affinity with. As long as you know that when now and again you pass a car that could double as a disco bus that it isn't some nutter but only a middle aged person reliving their youth one song at a time...
